Another little while goes by, drawing ever closer to the final days of My Friend Flick's completion... And, yet, we still have a long way to go. How much have we accomplished since the last blog post? I'm glad you asked!
UI/Programming
There have been outstanding strides in terms of the programming side of the app's development. Wyatt Foster has been hard at work, as always!
QR CODE SCANNING
Wyatt has figured out how to implement the QR code scanning function for the app! This function is intended for users to scan to get clothing for Flick at FLCC-related events.
This first gif shows Wyatt creating the identifier tag/QR code, and naming it.
This shows Wyatt actually opening up the camera function, holding up his phone with the QR code developed in order to scan it (in which the user would obtain the item).
Here in this image, the scan is successful and recognizes the QR code under the label it initially received (in the first gif).
MINIGAMES
Wyatt has additionally figured out the main function/gameplay of our mini game: Scrub-A-Flub. This mini-game involves the user washing down Flick using soap suds, and then washing them off with water.
You can also see a sneak peek of the sprite's implementation, running between rooms. It's incredible seeing ideas come to life through programming. We're all very grateful for Wyatt's development on the project!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Asset/sprite work will need to continue, post haste! Alongside backgrounds, as we start to move over and implement these features into the app. This will help make the app feel all the more alive! A lot of progress has been made in terms of programming; even still, there is still so much to go.
Not to mention clothing... yeesh.
Regardless, I'm very happy to see where this progress is going and can't wait to see just how much more we can do!
